Naver Map becomes much more useful when you stop treating it like a normal sightseeing map and start using it as a decision tool. In Korea, the difference between the correct exit and the wrong exit can be ten minutes of extra walking. The difference between a vague English place name and the exact Korean listing can be the difference between finding the restaurant and circling the block.

Search by Place Name, Address, or Korean Text

If an English search does not work, try the Korean name copied from the attraction website, hotel confirmation, Instagram profile, or restaurant listing. For chain stores, include the neighborhood or branch name. For example, search the exact station, palace, cafe, or market name instead of only typing a broad category like "best restaurant."

Read the Route Like a Traveler

Do not only look at the total time. Check the walking time to the first station or bus stop, the number of transfers, the exit number, and whether the route uses bus, subway, taxi, or walking. A route that is five minutes faster may be worse with luggage, rain, children, or a late-night return.

For subway travel, the exit number often matters more than the station name. Large stations can have many exits spread across wide intersections. Before you board, check which exit Naver Map recommends and whether there is an elevator if you have luggage.
